Who exactly is a terrorist?

During the Vietnam era any ideology that was not in accordance with "The American Way" was condemned as being "Communist" and now any ideology falling in the same genre is condemned as being "ociated with Terrorism" correct me if I'm wrong but does this not strike you as being odd. I personalty believe that this is synonymous with the "Salem Witch Trials". Whats your take?
