Gow III - how to beat zeus in titan mode on the last battle (inside gaia)?

i can get up to the part when he starts multiplying really fast -like 5 guys at a time- i keep switching between the whip (fully loaded) and the cesteans(also maxed)- how many times does he multiply?? I can't remember from the normal time i beat him- i also have the book it is no help
