Where is a safe place to live in Westwood?

Im trying to move down to the LA area this winter from oregon. I will be going to school at the aveda institute in westwood in but ive only been there once to look at the school. are there any sketchy parts i should stay away from? where is the best/safest place to live in westwood that is fairly close to UCLA and aveda? im looking for an apartment
